WAILEA, MAUI – June 16, 2006 – Royden N. Sato has been named executive
sous chef at the 546-room Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, where the
oceanfront resort is undergoing an exciting multi-million dollar renovation and
is scheduled for completion in Fall 2007 (visit http://www.waileamarriott.com).
“With 26 years of culinary experience, Chef Royden Sato brings a wealth of
knowledge and skills to our food and beverage department,” said John Jaskula,
general manager at Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. “We welcome a talented
chef like him to our team.”
In his position, Sato will be responsible for all kitchen operations at the hotel’s
two restaurants and lounges, room service and catering events. He will oversee a
staff of associates and be responsible for ensuring that all food production
workers are performing their duties in accordance to Marriott International’s
high quality and performance standards.
Sato joins Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa from another Marriott brand
property, Kapalua Bay Hotel, A Renaissance Resort, where he served as
executive sous chef. He began his Marriott International career as a dinner cook
in 1981 when the Maui Marriott opened in Kaanapali.
Sato, who was born on Oahu, attended Kapiolani Community College and
Kaiser High School. He has been residing on Maui since 1981. He has three
children. |
