MARRIOTT VACATION CLUB APPOINTS NEW GENERAL MANAGERS FOR THREE HAWAIIAN PROPERTIES
Marriott’s Ko Olina Beach Club on Oahu, Maui Ocean Club on Maui and Waiohai Beach Club
on Kauai
 
   

HONOLULU, HAWAII – January 9, 2008 –Marriott Vacation Club International (MVCI) – the vacation
ownership division of Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE: MAR) – has appointed three new general
managers to its Hawaiian properties on Oahu, Maui and Kauai.

Joining Marriott’s Ko Olina Beach Club on Oahu is Edgar Gum, who holds 20 years of Marriott
experience in Hawaii. Gum began his career at Marriott’s Maui Ocean Club and then spent time at both
JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa on Oahu and Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club on Kauai. He most
recently served as general manager of Marriott’s Maui Ocean Club in the popular Kaanapali resort
destination.

Replacing Gum as general manager of Marriott’s Maui Ocean Club is Rob Welch, who comes to the
property from Wailea Beach Marriott Resort & Spa where he most recently served as the director of
operations. A 23-year Marriott veteran, Welch has worked all around the world, including Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, New York and Atlanta.

Additionally, Steve Yannarell has been named general manager of Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club on
Kauai. Previously, Yannarell served as the director of operations at Marriott’s Maui Ocean Club and
Renaissance Kapalua Bay Hotel. He brings with him more than 20 years of experience in hotel operations and food and beverage services.
