JW MARRIOTT IHILANI RESORT & SPA APPOINTS DAN REID, CMP TO
DIRECTOR OF EVENT MANAGEMENT
KO OLINA, OAHU, HAWAII – October 23, 2007 – The award winning JW Marriott Ihilani
Resort & Spa at Ko Olina has named Dan Reid, CMP, its new director of event management.
Reid is responsible for overseeing all events occurring at the 387-room luxury resort, including
the Pavilion at Ihilani, an open-air venue that offers 18,000 square feet of unobstructed space,
surrounded by lush tropical gardens and striking mountain views.
“We are pleased to have someone with Dan’s knowledge and skill lead our event management
team,” said Steve Glen, general manager of the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa. “He brings
with him 28 years of hospitality service at various four-star, four-diamond resorts, which will
ultimately benefit our guests and the quality of the events held here.”
Reid’s responsibilities include supervising the more than 240 weddings held every year at the
resort, which holds the distinction of being voted Oahu’s “Best of the Best” place to have a
wedding in 2007. “We are striving to provide our guests with the most memorable wedding
experience in Hawaii,” said Reid.
Prior to joining JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa at Ko Olina, Reid served as director of event
planning at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix, Arizona, where he was responsible for
overseeing and managing a $30 million catering budget for the 950-room resort. He was
previously director of event planning at Marriott’s Harbor Beach in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and
assistant director of catering sales at JW Marriott Desert Springs in Palm Desert, California.
